Lafia—The village head of Sarkin Noma, Ero Yaro, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for his alleged involvement in a midnight attack in the community that left two people dead and one abducted.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Lafia.

“Information was received that unknown gunmen invaded Sarkin Noma Village, abducting one person and shooting two others dead. Acting on this, the Commissioner of Police deployed operatives from Kadarko Division, who combed the bush and arrested 45-year-old Ero Yaro in connection with the crime,” Nansel said.

In response to the incident, the Nasarawa State government vowed to deal decisively with perpetrators. In a statement released by the Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, the government noted the gradual infiltration of criminal elements across the state, constituting a security threat.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the recent midnight attack in Sarkin Noma, Keana Local Government Area, and similar incidents. The state government will not allow enemies of peace to succeed. Security agencies have been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators without delay,” the statement read.

Residents were assured that the government is collaborating with security agencies and stakeholders to implement enhanced security measures and urged citizens to provide information that could aid in capturing criminals across the state.
