Investing.com — U.S. President Donald Trump announced Monday that U.S. military forces conducted a “kinetic strike” against drug traffickers in international waters on his orders.
The operation targeted “positively identified, extraordinarily violent drug trafficking cartels and narcoterrorists” in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility, according to Trump’s statement on Truth Social.
The strike occurred while the individuals, described as “confirmed narcoterrorists from Venezuela,” were transporting illegal narcotics bound for the United States. Trump characterized the drugs as “a deadly weapon poisoning Americans.”
The military action resulted in three male suspects killed. No U.S. forces were harmed during the operation.
In his statement, Trump issued a warning: “If you are transporting drugs that can kill Americans, we are hunting you!”
This marks the second such strike ordered by the president, who emphasized that drug cartels pose a threat to U.S. national security, foreign policy, and vital interests. Trump added that illicit cartel activities have had “devastating consequences on American communities for decades.”
