President Trump and first lady Melania Trump kick off two days of pomp and business with their state visit to the U.K. on Wednesday morning, arriving at Windsor Castle.
Prince William and Kate, the princess of Wales, and then King Charles III and Queen Camilla, greeted the Trumps. A state banquet at the castle will cap the day. It is Trump’s second state visit to the U.K.
Back home, Republicans are pushing a government funding deal, dismissing any Democratic pleas for bipartisan talks. A shutdown at the end of the month looks increasingly possible.
Two high-profile hearings take place Wednesday on Capitol Hill. FBI Directory Kash Patel returns for a second day of testimony, this time in the House after a grilling in the Senate. And Susan Monarez, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will testify in the Senate on the disarray at the agency from which she was fired after only three weeks on the job.
And at 2 p.m., the Fed will announce the latest on interest rates, presumably a cut, after months of pressure from Trump.
Follow along here all day.
