Remo Stars have dismissed reports suggesting the club has parted ways with head coach Daniel Ogunmodede, insisting he remains fully in charge of the team’s technical setup.
The club, in a statement, clarified that Ogunmodede is currently away in Abuja to complete a CAF B coaching course as part of his professional development.
The 2024/25 NPFL Champions also revealed that the coach is also continuing his duties with the Nigerian national team as preparations accelerate for the FIFA World Cup African play-offs, a probable intercontinental play-off, and the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for later in the year.
The statement which was released on X(formerly Twitter), fully reads, “Remo Stars Football Club wishes to clarify that our Head Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, remains an integral part of our technical crew and continues to serve as the Head Coach of Remo Stars FC.
“Daniel is presently attending a CAF B coaching course in Abuja as part of his continuous professional development and commitment to personal and technical growth.
“He will also continue his national assignment with the Nigeria national team, as the country prepares for the crucial FIFA World Cup African play-offs, the potential intercontinental play-off, and the Africa Cup of Nations later this year.
“We firmly believe this is a period that calls for collective national support and dedication to the success of Nigerian football.
“He remains a valued and vital member of the Remo Stars family, and we eagerly look forward to his successful completion of these national and personal engagements.”
Remo Stars have experienced a poor start to the 2018 NPFL season, sitting 17th on the table with just 10 points from eight matches.
Things have gone worse for them after a disastrous CAF Champions League exit, where they suffered a devastating 7-1 aggregate defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
They currently sit ninth on the NPFL table, and now travel far-north to play Nasarawa United which sit second on the standings.
