Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a suspect, Ya’u Inuwa, in connection with the theft of a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Kano State Government House.
The vehicle, reportedly attached to the Governor’s advance team, was declared missing on November 11, 2025.
Confirming the arrest, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, said the suspect, who works as a driver at the Government House, confessed to conspiring with two others—currently at large—to steal the vehicle.
According to Haruna, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, had immediately ordered the closure of all entry and exit points in the state and directed a full investigation to recover the stolen vehicle.
“Following sustained follow-up and intelligence-led investigations, one Ya’u Inuwa, a 50-year-old driver at the Government House, was arrested. The stolen Hilux was recovered at Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, Kano, and is now in police custody,” Haruna stated.
He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. The Command commended officials of the Government House for promptly reporting the incident and assured the public of its commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
