Plateau Assembly resumes legislative business at renovated complex

Must read

The Plateau State House of Assembly, presided over by its Speaker, Daniel Nanlong, says legislative activities of the assembly would officially return to its permanent assembly complex.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that lawmakers have been holding their legislative activities, including plenary sessions, at a temporary chamber in the old government house in Jos.

The return to the renovated complex followed a motion moved by Mr Joseph Bukar (APC/Shendam) during Tuesday’s plenary in Jos.

Bukar noted that with the completion and inauguration of the renovated assembly complex by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, there was no further need for plenary sessions to continue at the temporary chamber in the old government house.

The motion received unanimous support from the lawmakers, who expressed satisfaction that the new facility would provide a more conducive environment for effective legislative business.

Naanlong affirmed the resolution and expressed appreciation to the legislators for their patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the renovation period.

NAN also reports that a bill seeking the establishment of the Plateau Institute for Advanced Legislative Leadership and Democratic Studies, and for other related matters, passed its first reading.

The bill, sponsored by the speaker and other members, was presented to the house.
