…Targets Power Generation, LNG Growth via AKK Pipeline Framework

In a strategic move to deepen its role in Nigeria’s gas value chain, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) has signed a landmark Natural Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with CCETC Suk Power Limited, facilitating the delivery of up to 44 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of natural gas.

The agreement, which complements an existing gas supply deal with GasHub Nigeria Limited, is aimed at enhancing power generation and expanding Nigeria’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity. The deal was signed during the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Business Development Forum held Thursday in Abuja.

According to NGML, the deal reflects its commitment to scaling access to gas for both industrial and power applications, reinforcing the Federal Government’s agenda of transitioning to a gas-based economy that prioritizes cleaner, reliable energy.

Held under the theme “AKK Pipeline Progress Update & Opportunities Engagement,” the forum served as a key platform to showcase the progress and commercial prospects of the AKK Gas Pipeline Project—one of Nigeria’s most ambitious energy infrastructure undertakings.

NGML said the expanded gas supply capacity will bolster domestic energy utilisation, stimulate industrial growth, and support sustainable development, particularly across Northern Nigeria, which stands to benefit immensely from the AKK pipeline corridor.

The agreement is also seen as a major step forward in achieving the objectives of the Decade of Gas initiative, which seeks to harness Nigeria’s vast natural gas reserves to drive energy transition, economic diversification, and job creation.

Stakeholders at the forum commended NGML and its partners for aligning commercial actions with national energy goals, while calling for sustained collaboration to unlock the full economic potential of Nigeria’s gas assets.

The AKK Gas Pipeline Project, when completed, is expected to transform energy delivery, connect underserved markets, and catalyse inclusive industrialisation in the country.
