Regina Daniels has raised alarm over the whereabouts of her younger brother, Sammy Daniels, who was allegedly arrested by the police and denied access to his family and legal aid. The actress claims her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, orchestrated the arrest to coerce her into returning home and submitting to a rehabilitation program.

Sammy was allegedly arrested and held incommunicado for over 24 hours, denied food, water, and access to legal aid. Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, also accused Senator Nwoko of being behind the arrest, claiming he vowed not to release Sammy until Regina returns home.

He described the situation as “kidnap, intimidation, and abuse of power,” calling on Nigerians to support a petition demanding justice for his detained brother.

Lawrence later confirmed that Sammy was remanded on Thursday in Keffi prison by a Dutse Magistrate without access to a legal representative. He also shared a video where Sammy was saying “they didn’t allow me to call my lawyer. They didn’t allow my family to see me since I was arrested on Monday. Nobody knows where I was taken to”.

According to Lawrence who wrote on his Instagram story, “they are planning to manipulate us. Sammy has not been granted bail. They have moved him to Keffi prison. What sort of injustice is this? Ned Nwoko wants my brother to be remanded in Keffi prison till November 28, for speaking and fighting against domestic violence towards our blood sister. He’s got a child and a family who depend on him. Free my brother…” The police initially denied knowledge of the arrest, but later confirmed that Sammy was on his way to the FCT command.

In an Instagram post, the actress was visibly distressed and vowed to fight for her brother’s release, declaring “power for power, or rather aura for aura.” She criticized the action of senior police officers, saying one claimed his hands were tied.

“FreeSammy. For the record, I don’t regret anything. Na only I carry my leg to enter the marriage, but this was a route I was meant to take, not my final destination,” she said. “Finally, some people now have a video that can make them think they can mock me. But it’s okay. My entire focus right now is to know the whereabouts of my brother.”

Regina has also defended her mother, saying she should not be blamed for her marriage to Nwoko, which was her personal decision. She revealed that her parents who parted ways years ago have reunited with “no negative ulterior motive other than their daughter’s happiness” and to secure their son’s release from detention.

The crisis began when Regina accused Nwoko of physical assault and announced she was ending their marriage. Nwoko responded by accusing Regina of substance abuse and claiming she needed rehabilitation. The couple’s dispute has been playing out publicly, with both sides trading accusations and insults.
