Nov. 5 (UPI) — Authorities arrested Malaysian rapper Namewee on Wednesday in connection with the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh.

Hsieh, 31, was found dead in a Kuala Lumpur hotel bathtub on Oct. 22. She was a former nurse and had more than 500,000 followers on Instagram and had an Onlyfans account.

Her cause of death hasn’t been determined. Police were waiting for the full autopsy and toxicology report.

Namewee, 42, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was the last person to see her alive, police said. Hsieh’s real name was Hsieh Yu-hsin, and she was known as Nurse Goddess by her fans.

Wee will be held until Nov. 10, said Dang Wangi police Chief Sazalee Adam.

Wee said he traveled from Johor Bahru to meet with the police in Dang Wangi, which is the city center in Kuala Lumpur. He said he’s fully cooperating with police.

“I will fully assist the police in their investigations, and be accountable to the public and the family of the deceased,” he wrote in Chinese on Instagram Wednesday, according to The Straits Times. “I will not run. When I was wanted seven times in the past, I turned up on my own each time, never running away.”

Wee is a controversial figure in music. He was arrested in 2016 for his music video “Oh My God” because of complaints that it disrespected Islam. In 2021, he released a song with Australian singer Kimberly Chen that lampooned Chinese nationalists and mentioned Taiwanese sovereignty. They were both banned from China, and the song was removed from Chinese platforms, Sky News reported.
