Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has sparked fresh uncertainty over his future at Atalanta after unfollowing the Italian club on Instagram and archiving all team-related posts, days after a heated touchline exchange with head coach Ivan Juric.
The confrontation occurred during Atalanta’s 1–0 win over Olympique Marseille on Wednesday night when Lookman appeared visibly angry after being taken off in the 75th minute.
Television cameras captured Juric grabbing the Nigerian forward’s arm as the two exchanged words before team officials stepped in to diffuse the situation.
After the game, Juric dismissed the clash, insisting it was part of football’s emotional intensity.
“It’s something that happens all the time,” he said. “Some players aren’t happy when they’re substituted. We talk about it in the locker room and move on. What matters most is Atalanta, the team, and the fans.”
At a follow-up press conference on Saturday, the Atalanta manager again downplayed the incident, stressing there was no lingering issue.
“These things happen,” Juric explained. “You talk, exchange views, and the rapport becomes even stronger. Ademola is a passionate player. It’s all sorted and we’ve moved on.”
As of Saturday, Lookman had unfollowed Atalanta on Instagram and removed all club-related content from his page.
Last summer, the 28-year-old unfollowed the club and skipped pre-season training after Atalanta refused to approve a €50 million move to Inter Milan.
With the January transfer window approaching, Lookman could once again seek an exit from Bergamo amid renewed signs of discord.
Lookman, who was instrumental in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, has struggled to replicate that form in the current campaign.
