Here’s how much eggs cost at three Louisville grocery stores

Must read

At the start of 2025, the price of eggs was a major concern for consumers with prices averaging near $4 per dozen, and something that President Donald Trump said he would lower.

In the first quarter of the year egg prices were largely influenced by a breakout of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, causing prices to stay high. The outbreak was forcing a shortage of eggs as well, leading some grocers to restrict how many dozens of eggs consumers could buy per visit.

By May, egg prices had started to drop. Nationally, egg prices have continued to trend downward, with August posting an average price of $3.587 for one dozen grade A large eggs, marking the lowest average price of eggs since November 2024.

September egg price data was expected to be released Oct. 15 at 7:30 a.m. The data is reported by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and is dependent on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics but due to the ongoing government shutdown the data was not available at the time of publication.
