The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Dr. Terna Francis, as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly established Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board, BEQAEB.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula said appointment takes immediate effect.

The statement noted that the creation of the Board followed the recent passage of a law by the Benue State House of Assembly, which merged the former Bureau for Education Quality Assurance and the defunct Benue State Examinations Board into a single, strengthened institution.

According to the Governor, the strategic merger reflected his administration’s commitment to repositioning the education sector and ensuring that every child in Benue had access to high-quality, competitive learning opportunities capable of preparing them for global excellence.

Governor Alia congratulated Dr. Francis on the appointment and urged him to deploy his experience, integrity and innovative capacity toward revitalizing the state’s education assessment and quality assurance framework.

He further charged the new Executive Secretary to “pursue excellence, transparency, and accountability in all his undertakings, in line with the administration’s vision for a renewed and results-driven education system.”

Reiterating that education remains a top priority, the Governor noted that “the Board must serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement, discipline, and quality standards across all levels of learning in the state.”
