GOP senators urge redesignation over Nigeria’s Christian persecution

Must read

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNCT) — U.S. Senator Tedd Budd led his Senate Republican colleagues Pete Ricketts, Josh Hawley, James Lankford, and Ted Cruz in sending a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling on the Trump administration to redesignate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern under the International Religious Freedom Act.

Nigeria is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians. Thousands of believers are persecuted and killed for their faith. In the letter, the senators condemn the Biden administration’s decision to remove Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, as the country has failed to confront violence and terrorism toward Christians and other religious minorities.
