The Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Technology Akure,FUTA, Teaching Hospital, Professor Olusegun Ojo, has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello as the pioneer Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, of the hospital.
The CMAC, which serves as the administrative head of the Directorate of Clinical Services, is one of the three directorates that form the administrative structure of federal teaching hospitals across the country.
Bello, an experienced Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, obtained his undergraduate medical degree at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, before proceeding to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for his Residency Training. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics.
He was first appointed a Consultant Paediatrician at the former State Specialist Hospital, Akure, in 2015, and later became one of the foundation staff of the UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Akure, when the facility was incorporated into the UNIMED Teaching Hospitals Complex. He also served as Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where he is a Senior Lecturer.
Over the years, Bello has served on several statutory and ad hoc committees within the teaching hospital system and the university, including chairing the Infection Prevention and Control Team as well as the Hospital/Community Liaison Committee.
He is also an accomplished medical researcher, with several papers published in reputable peer-reviewed Nigerian and international medical journals. Beyond his research, Bello is widely recognised as a skilled teacher and trainer of both medical students and resident doctors.
Bello is married with children.
