A Socio-political group in Ijesaland, Ijesa Unite for Good Governance, IUGG, has lamented the defection of the Senator representing Osun-East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi into the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing it as a great loss.
It would be recalled that Fadahunsi resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the APC along with his counterpart from Osun Central, Fadeyi Fabiyi.
The group, an umbrella body for Ijesa indigenes at home and in the dispora, disclosed that it is disheartening for the political strategist to join APC while PDP looks on helplessly.
A statement issued by its National Coordinator, Kazeem Ibikunle, on Thursday and make available to newsmen in Osogbo, he berated the PDP for managing the situation that culminated to Fadahunsi’s defection.
According to the statement, it is disheartening that the PDP allowed one of her first eleven to quit the Party. The departure of Distinguished Senator Fadahunsi OFR from the PDP is one of the lowest points in the history of Osun State PDP.
“Senator Fada, as fondly called, brought a lot of energy and vigour into the PDP while it was in the opposition in Osun State. Under the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, it was a taboo to be a member of PDP, however, Senator Fadahunsi took up the challenge and turned the fortune of the party in Osun.
“While spending his resources and galvanising other party faithfuls, the party became very attractive and this culminated into the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke who made history by defeating an incumbent governor.
“The party repeated the same feat during the National and State Assemblies elections where she won all the 12 National Assembly seats and 25 out of the 26 seats in the State House of Assembly”, he said
The group recalled that Fadahunsi contributed significantly to the growth of the party in the state, including; presentation of a 46 seater fully air conditioned bus to the party, supply of trailer loads of Rice and Rams for Ileya and Christmas to members of the PDP across the State being the only Serving Senator of the Party in the 9th Assembly then, financial support for the running of the State Secretariat including payment of Rents and staff stipend among several others.
“Fadahunsi is a master strategist when it comes to politics in Ijesaland and a visionary leader whose leadership style worth emulating”, he added.
