The Lagos State Government has announced plans to partially close and divert traffic along the Lekki–Ajah corridor for eight months to allow for seamless rehabilitation works.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the rehabilitation will run from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
According to Osiyemi, the project—whose preliminary works are already underway—will be executed in two phases to minimize traffic disruptions.
Phase 1: Lekki 1st Toll Gate to Lekki 2nd Toll Gate
“Work will be done in seven sections. During construction, one lane will be closed while motorists use the second. When the closed lane is completed, work will shift to the other. Motorists heading toward Lekki/Ajah will have continuous access,” Osiyemi explained.
Phase 2: Lekki 2nd Toll Gate to Ajah Under-Bridge
“Motorists from Ajah inward Lekki will be diverted to one lane while repairs are ongoing on the other. Once the first lane is completed, work will move to the second lane. Throughout this phase, movement toward Ajah will continue,” he added.
The commissioner noted that some sections of the road will experience partial closures during the rehabilitation period.

Osiyemi appealed for patience and cooperation from motorists, urging them to obey traffic officials and follow diversions as directed.
“These repairs are part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to improve road quality and ease traffic flow,” he stated.
