Atalanta have announced that they have parted company with head coach Ivan Juric after 11 matches of the 2025-26 Serie A season, following a 3-0 defeat at home to newly-promoted Sassuolo on Sunday.
Juric, who was appointed over the summer as the successor to Atalanta stalwart Gian Piero Gasperini, leaves the club in 13th place in the Serie A table, having recorded just two league wins from 11 matches.
La Dea have lost their last two Serie A games, following a run of six consecutive draws, meaning they have collected only six points from their last eight league outings.
As Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà explained, Juric was informed that his last two matches, against Marseille in the Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A, would be decisive for his future in the Dea dugout.
Despite beating Marseille, the coach made headlines for his interaction with Ademola Lookman on the touchline. Following the 3-0 loss to Sassuolo, the situation became untenable.
Coincidentally, Juric was also sacked by Roma on this day one year ago: December 10, 2024. It is widely predicted that former Monza and Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino will replace Juric as Atalanta’s head coach.
“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his position as head coach of the first team, along with his closest members of staff, namely Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic and Michele Orecchio,” a statement on the club website read.
“Atalanta thanks Ivan Juric and his staff for their efforts, and wishes them all the best for the future.”
