Anambra 2025: Octogenarian, group, clergy, laud smooth voting process

 An Octogenarian, Mrs Patricia Orakwe has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a smooth conduct of the governorship election in Anambra.

Orakwe made the commendation at her Polling Unit, All Saints Primary School Onitsha on Saturday.

She commended INEC and security personnel for the smooth electorial process.

When asked what prompted her at her age to participate, she said that she believed in the progress of the state and as such she must come out to exercise her franchise.

Also speaking, an Observer from Civil Society Situation Room, Mr Tony Ayoka, lauded the INEC for the early distribution of electoral materials across all the polling units they visited.

“We visited Ogbaru local government and now at Eze Chima Primary School, we observed that they were there as at 8:30 a.m. and everything is going on smoothly”, he said.

The Bishop of the Anglican Church Diocese of the Niger, Rev. Owen Nwokolo, noted that election is the period when citizens come out to choose who to represent them.

According to him, electoral process in Nigeria is improving on a daily basis, if you look around, you will see that people are voting peacefully.

“I have done mine and it went on smoothly, we thanked the INEC and all the people involved, I also thanked all political party involved for the peaceful experience so far”, he said.

He appealed to all the contestants to keep cool, saying that winner must emerged and they should ensure that they don’t cause trouble.

On his part, the Speaker of Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, commended INEC for their professionalism, adding that voting in Ogbaru Local Government was peaceful.

Udeze noted that from all indications, people wanted their votes to count and as such they comported themselves peacefully.

He maintained that some signs of initial threats that were coming from some quarters, the security agencies were able to take care of them.
