Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed 11 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in separate operations across Borno and Adamawa states.

A credible military source disclosed on Tuesday that eight terrorists were eliminated in an ambush in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, while three others were neutralized during an operation in Umbo village, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to the source, the first encounter occurred on September 15, 2025, when troops of Sector 3 on a scanning and picketing patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route came under attack. The terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device and opened fire, but the troops repelled the assault with superior firepower, killing eight fighters, including two identified commanders.

Items recovered included 14 motorcycles, AK-47 rifles with magazines, rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, anti-aircraft links, blankets, and assorted drugs. Two gun trucks that could not be recovered due to terrain challenges were destroyed by the Air Component of OPHK, which also neutralized more fighters with support from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) ISR platform. No casualties were recorded among the troops.

In a separate operation the same day, troops of Sector 1, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, launched an offensive in Umbo, Madagali LGA of Adamawa State, killing three terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and a mobile phone. Again, no casualties were reported on the side of the troops.

The military high command commended the troops for their commitment and urged residents to continue supporting counter-terrorism efforts with timely and credible information.
