A fresh fire outbreak on Tuesday evening gutted a four-storey building, Emab Plaza, located behind Mandilas, Lagos Island.
The incident was reported at about 9 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of all fire crews from the Ebute Elefun Oniru Fire Stations of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the blaze started from the fourth floor of the building, spreading to adjoining apartments in the process.
As of 10 pm, Deputy Controller General Olajide Ogabi of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said that the rescue operation was still ongoing.
Recall that fire had earlier gutted a six-storey building at Marina, Lagos Island, at about 2 pm, with eight people rescued in the process.
