LIVE Video: Texas Dems give remarks from California amid redistricting battle
President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Aug. 15 in Alaska, he said on Truth Social on Friday evening.
The meeting has been teased this week and was announced the day that Trump had set as a deadline for Putin to talk about peace terms for his war in Ukraine.
Trump is replacing IRS Commissioner Billy Long with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the White House announced Friday.
The Justice Department on Friday subpoenaed New York Attorney General Letitia James, the state’s top prosecutor, who brought a successful civil fraud case against Trump. The probe by federal prosecutors, launched by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York, issued two subpoenas this week, seeking information related to James’s case against the Trump Organization as well as another brought against the National Rifle Association (NRA).
It also notched a win in court, as an appeals court tossed the contempt order against administration officials that was issued in April by District Judge James Boasberg.
In Texas, the state House tried to hold a session at quorum but without Democrats in Austin, continuing their protest against redistricting the state to give Republicans five more seats in Congress, the chamber adjourned. Republicans on Thursday got the cooperation of the FBI in tracking down Texas lawmakers who have fled the state.
