In a veiled dig at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC), President Bola Tinubu has urged more politicians to embrace the ruling party.
While speaking at the APC’s NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday, President Tinubu said there is room for defecting politicians to joining the APC, saying it is not a bad idea for them to dump sinking ship and coalition of confusion.
“It’s not a bad idea to abandon as inking ship and be absent from a coalition of confusion,” Tinubu said.
The President also welcomed the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori and Governor Eno Umo of Akwa Ibom State, both of whom dumped the PDP for the APC.
The president urged party members to embrace more opposition politicians willing to join the party.
“With the space that we have created to allow aspiring people to join us, our doors are still open and we should embrace them wholeheartedly,” the president said.
With defection of governors Eno and Oborevwori, the APC now has 23 governors.
